Health and Safety
Livingstone has a team based approach to health and safety. This approach includes initiatives that come directly from our employees. Livingstone prides itself on keeping up to date with health and safety changes regarding: legislation, work procedures, and the environment. All of Livingstone’s health and safety procedures are strongly supported by our full time Health and Safety Manager; who oversees projects, advises staff, completes audits, and undertakes investigations.
Livingstone is a member of Site Safe New Zealand. As a result of this membership all Foreman and Managers are trained in the Supervisor Gold Card and all other employees are trained in the Construction Passport. This gives all staff a strong understanding of the health and safety requirements and legislations, and ensures that the health and safety culture is embedded into all facets of our work.
Every construction site is individually analysed in order to develop a site specific safety plan. Such plans allow us to identify, control and monitor the possibility of existing and potential hazards. To complement this plan, an individual on every site is designated to overseeing health and safety tasks such as: site inductions, regular inspections, toolbox meetings, task analysis, and other related tasks.
Livingstone has codified their health and safety culture into comprehensive health and safety policies and practices. This has helped develop the strong relationships held with both ACC and the Department of Labour. We believe the success in this is attributed to our staff involvement in health and safety and their participation in ensuring a safe workplace is at the forefront of all activities that we do.
