Protecting the Environment

Livingstone is proud to be in an industry where we are able to contribute to the growth and development of New Zealand. We do however, recognise the need to protect our environment. When we build projects we look carefully at the surrounding environment and look at ways in which we can ensure that it will be preserved. We also work closely with local environmental agencies and groups to make sure we are doing everything we can to protect the surrounding area.

Green Star

Green Star is comprehensive in terms of content and its practical application to design and construction projects. This national and voluntary rating scheme evaluates the environmental attributes and performance of New Zealand’s buildings.

For Livingstone, Green Star Accreditation means that within our company there is a comprehensive understanding of the Green Star New Zealand rating system and how the building industry has an effect on the environment. Livingstone is experienced in the construction of Green Star rated buildings.

Livingstone is proud to have two Green Star Accredited professionals on our management team.

Enviromark

In December 2006 Livingstone embarked on a journey to strengthen our environmental policies and procedures by being one of the first five Waikato businesses to join New Zealand’s Envirosmart program.

Managed by Land Care Research, the program assists businesses in: cutting waste, using energy and water more efficiently, and identifying and controlling environmental concerns. Throughout this journey Livingstone has gained a lot of knowledge and experience in environmental sustainability.

We have moved quickly through the different certification levels from Bronze, Silver and Gold, we now hold the Platinum Certification. Livingstone is proud of our achievements and we look forward to continuing to do our bit for the environment in the years to come.

Where we are heading

Livingstone is committed to business sustainability in all aspects of our workplace. We believe in taking sustainability beyond only recycling and encourage our staff to be innovative when it comes to thinking of new ideas which will reduce our global footprint. Livingstone will continue to educate our staff in sustainability and introduce new ideas and policies to our business.
